Windows Server 2003 end of support date is approaching

Industry News

Microsoft estimates that there are still millions of servers running Windows Server 2003. It has long been the platform of choice for many companies but on July 14, 2015 Microsoft will end support of this product.

What does this mean?

End of support means that Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, fixes or online support for any version of Windows Server 2003. If you haven’t yet upgraded you are exposed to business risks such as:

  • No further updates will be developed or released after the end of support date.
  • Systems could be compromised, both virtualised and physical instances of Windows Server 2003 may potentially become vulnerable.
  • The erroneous operation of applications and other software products may occur.
  • Not meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.

NOTE: Seiki recommends Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012 as the minimum PC specification for its application/database server. See our individual product pages for a full breakdown.
