Area Sales Managers

John Davis

Managing Director and Area Sales Manager (West)

Joined Seiki: 2008

I started my 40 year engineering career at 18 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. My first job was as a Design Engineer with a landing gear manufacturer but much of my time was actually spent helping implement a 3D CAD /CAM system. Following completion of that project I moved to a CAD/CAM/DNC reseller. This lead to me working for a number of companies, both large and small, progressing through various roles as an Applications Engineer, Operations Manager until eventually I had the opportunity to be involved in a management buy-out of the UK distributor for a German DNC, Machine Monitoring and Shopfloor Data Collection supplier, DLoG GmbH.

I joined Seiki Systems in 2008 when the Managing Director role opened within the Kenard group and I happily accepted it as it complimented my experience. At Seiki I oversee all business operations and departments and generally make sure all is running smoothly. Aside from managing the company I also have my own sales area in the South-West of England. I get a real adrenaline buzz from working in a software sphere serving the manufacturing sector which is always evolving. I am very fortunate to visit some fascinating and incredibly diverse British manufacturing companies. Overseeing new product development is another element of my position that gives me great satisfaction, seeing an idea on paper progress to advanced software operating proficiently in our customers is very rewarding.

Aside from my passion for engineering I am trying to spend more time returning to a previous interest as a drummer. I’m also quite a fan of fine food and drink, and cars and motorsport are another enjoyment of mine although I don’t get my hands greasy as often as I would like.

Paul Lane

Sales Director

Joined Seiki: 2007

I’m passionate about and have spent my entire career in engineering. I’ve enjoyed a diverse range of roles and managed projects that have given me a broad understanding and appreciation of the complex dynamics of design through to manufacturing operations. My combined knowledge and experience of engineering and systems management in the industrial environment enables me to offer practical and helpful advice to companies looking to implement digital manufacturing solutions within their business.

I joined Seiki Systems as Sales Director in 2007. As well as managing the team, I also enjoy the hands-on experience of being an area manager in the South-Central UK, as well as internationally. I take great pleasure in using my process and technical knowledge to solve problems and to help support customer’s in their efforts to kick-start their smart factory strategies. I would say the best part of my job is hearing first hand from happy customers how our software has helped to satisfy their requirements for greater efficiency, improved visibility and more flexibility within their manufacturing operations – to name just a few benefits of our solutions!

When I’m not working I liked to keep active, whether it’s running, cycling, gardening, mountaineering or occasionally skiing. My three children and four grandchildren also keep me rather busy.

Neil Saunders

Area Sales Manager (East)

Joined Seiki: 2002

My whole career has been in manufacturing and during this time I’ve picked up a wealth of knowledge from my experiences (nearly 40 years). Starting as an engineer apprentice for Kenard in 1980 I progressed to various positions including Section Leader of CNCs, lathes and mills and eventually becoming Production Planner managing all works orders, giving me a broad and detailed understanding of the industry.

After 22 years at Kenard progressing, I joined the Seiki Sales Team and although our Area Sales Managers are experts in all our products with my background in production planning I am the project specialist for Scheduler. With a passion for problem solving my role provides me with a variety of different challenges where I use my rich experience to find answers to meet my customer’s business needs. I’m often out giving demonstrations of our products to show how Seiki can benefit companies and increase productivity. I find the industry fascinating and enjoy its diverseness in many sectors such as F1 and, aerospace and oil.

Out of office hours I am an avid golfer when English weather permits and try to do as many weekends trips traveling as I can.

Area Sales Manager (North)

Joined Seiki: 1996

Prior to Seiki I had already been a manufacturing software specialist for 15 years. I’ve now been at Seiki Systems for over 22 years as an Area Sales Manager, which makes it pretty close to 40 years in the manufacturing industry. I’m located in Manchester which makes me conveniently placed to cover all accounts in the north of the UK. Meeting and communicating with lots of interesting people is one of the things I enjoy most about my job and I take great pleasure in finding solutions to suit all my customer’s needs, no job is the same. To assist customers in finding manufacturing solutions I discuss and identify their requirements and demonstrate the advantages of using our products.

In my spare time I enjoy playing golf and going to concerts to see live bands. Being based in Manchester I support the best local football team (Manchester City) and try to go to as many games as I can.

Seiki Systems is also supported by additional team members from departments in: marketing, administration, engineering, technical support and software development.
